FOSTERING PETS IN YOUR HOME

Fostering is one of the most important ways you can help the animals of BAHS. By providing our cats and dogs a temporary home for just a small amount of time will help save lives. A foster parent has one of the most important jobs at the shelter. They allow our animals to receive the proper care and attention they deserve as they wait for adoption. As a foster parent you’ll not only save the lives of animals in your care, but you’ll help open up space on in our adoption rooms at the shelter too.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A FOSTER PARENT?

  • Foster parents must be at least 18 years of age
  • Foster parents must fill out a Foster Application and be approved
  • Foster parents must be interested in and willing to help find a forever home for their foster pet

WHAT TYPES OF FOSTERING ARE OFFERED?

Almost all of our animals at the shelter are eligible to go to a foster home! We have a very active kitten fostering group and any kitten under 8 weeks old will go into foster care. Adult cats and dogs enjoy a break from the shelter and through our “Gimme a Break” short term foster program you can take a dog home for the weekend.

Thank you for your interest in our foster program. Please fill out this form if you are interested in fostering for Boone Area Humane Society in Boone, IA.
